My first experience involving climbing was rappelling down a cliff wearing a Swiss seat harness , with my Uncle, who has since been paralyzed in a mountain biking accident. After that first sample I could not stop talking about how much fun I had that day. For Christmas that year my parents got me lessons at the local climbing gym. Now, a little than thirteen years later, I am still climbing and enjoy it as much as that first day at the cliff.
To me climbing has become much more than simply, just climbing. Climbing has led me to meet people and visit places that are unforgettable. Through climbing I have had experiences that have greatly enriched my life, and have learned skills that translate to helping me in various aspects of my life. Although climbing may be a frivolous activity to some, it is something that has given me a different perspective on life, nature, and myself.
